How we make custom footwear

SeffShoe labs are foot and gait laboratories. They are equipped to examine your feet, capture the data we need, and help you get properly fitting footwear for the issue you face. Data is processed at our Mumbai hub, then cobbler-made footwear is prepared for you.

Lab process

Our process

  1. Videography

At SeffShoe labs, you walk on a track designed for a natural feel (similar to damp sand). A high-speed video is recorded so you can walk normally. The same material idea informs our footbed. Experts at the Mumbai hub analyse how you place your feet and look for gait abnormalities to plan corrective footwear.

  2. Plantar photography

Standing and walking create different pressure patterns on the sole. Plantar surface photography shows where pressure is high so we can offload those areas in your footwear.

  3. DSL foot mapping

Instead of ordinary shoe sizes alone, we use the DSL point system — a standard measurement method that accounts for length, width, shape, arch height, and foot type. This helps reveal disorders and creates a unique fit, more comfortable than fixed-size footwear.

  4. Foot examination & history

We examine the feet for corns, calluses, wounds, nail deformities, and more, and mark areas that need relief. Flexibility, protruding bones, and loss of fat pad are also checked. Further tests such as neuropathy assessment or thermal measurement may be done if needed.

  5. Counseling

Based on lab data, we advise which footwear to wear, how to care for your feet, and how to support healing. If further medical care is needed, we can recommend suitable experts.

  6. Disbursement

When footwear is ready, it is given out from SeffShoe labs. Fitting is checked carefully — especially for deformed or wounded feet. A trial confirms the footwear works as intended; further customisation is done if required before final delivery.
